Falmouth Harbour Commissioners operate the Visitors Yacht Haven and a number of swinging moorings designated for use by visitors only. They also regulate an anchorage area suitable for use by small craft in most conditions. The anchorage area is used regularly for manoeuvring of commercial ships entering or leaving the Docks and vessels using it are regularly required to move. The Visitors Yacht Haven was first installed in 1982 and has proved very popular with visitors seeking berthing within easy reach of the town's facilities. It was deepened and extended incorporating a breakwater in 1999 and now has the capacity for about 100 boats. There are first class shower and toilet facilities on site within a purpose built amenity centre which also has a laundrette facility and a coin/credit card operated telephone. There is fresh water and electricity available on the pontoons and a fuel barge dispensing petrol and diesel is normally available. There are 21 moorings in the Harbour dedicated to use by visitors. These cater for vessels up to 30m in length swinging or up to 76m head and stern with a maximum draft of 5m.
